Roots & Family Life
Lauren was born and raised in Georgia and has called it home for nearly her entire life—with the exception of a brief six-month adventure in Michigan. Family is a big part of her world: she’s a proud mom to a 13-year-old daughter and a 7-year-old son, and their household wouldn’t be complete without their cat, Bisco Bobbins.
She’s also the oldest of six siblings—three sisters and two brothers—and enjoys being an aunt to her niece and nephew. Coming from a large and diverse family has brought Lauren many unique experiences and has taught her how to always put family first.
Career Journey
Lauren has been with M&H for four and a half years, but her journey in payroll started back in 2016. She began like so many of you reading this article, on the client side, processing payroll for the largest independent furniture retailer in the Southeast.
That hands-on experience sparked something—she quickly discovered a passion for payroll and customer service. As she puts it, she’s “a bit of a nerd” who enjoys numbers, math, and the satisfaction of everything balancing perfectly. That passion eventually led her to join M&H in 2021 and being recognized as M&H's top Customer Service Rep the last few years in both volume and client feedback. Lauren handles several other tasks for M&H, including making an impact by producing this monthly company newsletter, The Source.
*Editor’s note: Lauren was very reluctant to shine the spotlight on herself, but we made sure that her value to M&H was clearly detailed in her employee spotlight. 😊
DIY & Home Renovation Passion
When Lauren isn’t working, there’s a good chance she’s tackling a home project. She’s an avid DIY enthusiast who started flipping houses as a hobby—living in them as her primary residence while renovating along the way.
She’s now on her third project and looking forward to the next one when the housing market improves. Most of her skills are self-taught (thank you, YouTube!), including installing flooring, tile work, electrical, plumbing, and plenty of other hands-on projects. While living in a renovation zone isn’t always easy, taking something old, worn down, or broken and turning it into something beautiful is what really makes her soul happy.
Hobbies & Fun Facts
Lauren has a wide range of interests and isn’t afraid to embrace the fun in everyday life. Some of her favorites include: Going to concerts and comedy shows, jammin' out to 90s music, thrifting (weekend Goodwill trips with her kids are a must!), hiking (never solo—true crime has taught her well!), and taking it easy.
Life Philosophy
Lauren believes that everything happens for a reason and ultimately works out the way it’s meant to. She sees challenges as opportunities for growth and believes some of life’s most important lessons come through tough times.
Above all, she keeps it simple: it’s not hard to be a good human—and that’s something she tries to live by every day.
