With over 25 years of experience in the HCM industry, Kelly is both a Certified Payroll Professional and PHR-certified—credentials she has held for over a decade. The PHR (Professional in Human Resources) highlights her deep knowledge in HR operations, compliance, and employee relations. Kelly plays a key role on our implementation team, driving HR builds and projects, and leads our HR Services department—managing employee submissions, investigations, handbook updates, and a wide range of HR-related requests.
Originally from Michigan, Kelly now calls the Atlanta suburbs home. Outside of work, she enjoys thrifting, cooking, true crime shows and podcasts, and spending time with her two kids (ages 18 and 15). She also shares her home with a lively crew of pets—three dogs (Mayo, Brie, and Luna) and two cats (Cali and Bean)—who keep things interesting and ensure there’s never a dull (or quiet) moment.

Tax Exempt vs Block W/H
At times, an employee may wish to be tax exempt. When they say this, they're actually saying that they do not want any taxes taken out of their paycheck.
To make this happen, the absolute bestpractice is to require the employee to submit a new withholding form in M&H OneSource. To block taxes from their pay, at the bottom of the withholding form, they will select the top option, indicated below:
If you choose to manually update the employee's tax settings for them, you will see that there are the following three options available for withholding inside their tax setting:
Yes - Yes, deduct taxes from their paycheck.
Exempt - The IRS agrees that this employee does not need to pay taxes and their wages should not be reported on their W2. Exempt is used in VERY rate circumstances. Contact M&H Support first.
Block W/H - Block taxes from withholding on their paycheck.
Please be sure to always use Block W/H when an employee is choosing to have taxes blocked from their pay. If "Exempt" is used, a payroll correction and possibly amended tax returns may be required to correct the employees pay record.

With this integration, your payroll general ledger data will be shared from the UKG Ready application with your QB Online account.
